How do I create a free Google business listing?

Creating a Google business listing is not a hard job. Follow these steps to create a free Google business listing:

Step 1: Complete the Google Maps listing process

In this step, you'll need to sign up for Google maps and add your business. Here's how:

  • Navigate to Google Maps.
  • Click the menu button at the top left.
  • Click "Add your business.".

Step 2: Open an account for your business

Skip this section if you already have a business account. Those who don't have an account can follow along to set one up.

  • Click "Create Account."
  • Select "To manage my business."
  • Fill out your info (name, username, etc.) and click "Next."
  • Next, you'll need to verify your identity by phone.
  • Then Google will send you to their terms and conditions page.
  • On the terms and conditions page, click "Agree" to get started.

Step 3: Enter the name and category of your business

Now that you've selected your business name and type, you can set up your business profile.

  • Type your business name into Google's search box, and the company's database will populate as you type.
  • The next step is to claim your business if it is listed. If it is not, type your full business name.
  • Make sure your business name is exactly as it is. (You won't need to stuff your Business Description with keywords because you'll add them later.)
  • Next, type a category describing your business.

The business profile will not be searchable until it is verified. When you set up your listing, you can skip the verification process, but you will eventually need to do so.

You can verify your listing in five ways:

  • By phone. Google will contact you with a verification code by phone or text.
  • By email. Your verification code will be emailed to you.
  • By postcard. The verification codes will be mailed to your registered address.
  • By video recording. Put together a video showing the location, the equipment, and that you're the manager.
  • By live video call. Present the same proof on a live call with a support representative.
